While the Cyclone Pam slams Vanuatu, the crew of MV Melissa are hard at work drilling and rehearsing their firefighting procedures.  All of our crewmember’s thoughts are with their families and loved ones in Vanuatu who are being battered by torrential rain and gale force winds.  The crew of MV Melissa is preparing to depart Brisbane and head directly for Port Vila as soon as a safe weather window opens.

New Development Project Bringing Jobs to Vanuatu

New Zealand has announced it’s largest ever investment in infrastructure in Vanuatu. The Vanuatu Interisland Shipping Support Project (IISSP) will be a joint partnership between the Government of Vanuatu (GoV), the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of New Zealand (GoNZ) through the New Zealand Aid Programme (NZAID) administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT). The joint partnership framework for the IISSP will be implemented for a period of up 6 years, from 2012 to 2016.
