Information about Tugboat Huria Matenga
Tugboat Huria Matenga is a high-performing Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) harbor tug with a 41-ton bollard pull, ideally suited for port operations, coastal towing, and offshore support. Originally built in Japan and formerly operating in the busy port of Nelson, New Zealand, Huria Matenga now serves as one of the two dedicated harbor tugs in Port Vila, Vanuatu.
Powered by twin Niigata engines delivering 3,000 HP, she achieves a top speed of 11 knots and carries up to 50 tons of fuel. Her efficient fuel consumption of just 260L per hour makes her a cost-effective option for both routine harbor duties and extended assignments.
Huria Matenga has also completed long-term deployments in the Pacific, including service in Nauru where she supported phosphate carriers as a primary tug assist vessel. Her maneuverability and reliability make her a key asset in Ocean Logistics’ fleet for towage, port
assist, and regional support operations.
